Small Ants invading your home?

There are many different species of small ants. One of the major species we often deal with is pavement ants, commonly known as sugar ants. They are quite small, often around 1/16-1/8 of an inch long. Like all ants, they are social insects, communicating by means of pheromone trails. They are very prevalent in kitchens throughout countertops foraging for food.

What you can do
Treatment. Many homeowners are successful in there own homes treating for small ants through the use of baits. It is critical not to use the wrong products as it will cause budding of the ant colony and the situation may become worse. There are a variety of baits available. Pro tip- use a drinking straw cut into half inch pieces to keep the bait intact while treating for ants in your home.
Prevention. Preventing food spillage is key as this can cause an influx of ants in your home. Other things that you can do is seal cracks and crevices that the ants are using to access your home..
